TOMS RIVER – A Manchester man remains behind bars on attempted murder charges after a drive-by shooting in Toms River, authorities confirm.

Toms River Police, the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office and the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department investigated the January 13th incident at the Hope’s Crossing Apartment Complex in the early morning hours.

No one was injured in the incident. Police said 20-year-old Javir Askew-Mayweather of Manchester was arrested on February 4 by the United States Marshal’s Fugitive Task Force at the Tropicana Hotel & Casino in Atlantic City.

Askew-Mayweather was charged with three counts of attempted murder. 

The multi-jurisdictional investigation was assisted by the following law enforcement agencies: The United States Marshal’s Office, Atlantic City Police Department, Neptune Police Department, Manchester Police Department, Monmouth County Regional SWAT Team and the Ocean County SWAT Team. 

Askew-Mayweather is currently lodged in the Ocean County Jail pending a detention hearing.

According to a report by Shore News Network, Askew-Mayweather was a former Lacey High School track star.
