TOMS RIVER – An unidentified man took his own life with a gun outside the township police station, police said.
Toms River Police Spokesperson Jillian Messina confirmed the incident that took place on January 5 outside their headquarters on Oak Avenue.
Officers found a senior male with a self-inflicted gunshot wound outside. They attempted to revive him and render aid. Jersey Coast Emergency News reported that a medevac was originally called and then canceled.
The victim was transported to Community Medical Center in Toms River by Silverton First Aid where he was pronounced.
The incident is under investigation. Police have not released the identity of the man.
