MANCHESTER – A driver has been stabilized in critical condition following a crash on Route 70, police said.
At around 9:30 a.m. on June 27, a Hyundai Accent was heading west on Route 70. While making a left turn onto Manchester Boulevard, it was hit by a Hyundai Elantra going east on 70.
The driver of the Accent, Fredric Mohr, 68, of Manchester, was brought to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune with several internal injuries. Police said he is in critical but stable condition.
The driver of the Elantra, Michael C. Odom, 37, of Manchester, sustained minor injuries and was transported to Community Medical Center in Toms River.
Firefighters and EMTs from the Manchester Township Division of Emergency Medical Services, and paramedics from Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital also responded to the scene. This crash is being investigated by Patrolman Conner Yatauro of the department’s Traffic Safety Unit. The investigation is still ongoing, but failure to yield to oncoming traffic is listed to be the primary factor of the crash.
