MANCHESTER – A motorcyclist has been hospitalized after being ejected from his bike in a late-night crash Monday evening, police said.
According to authorities, 38-year-old Thomas Mangan of Manchester was driving a Dodge Challenger westbound on 571at around 8:20 p.m. on September 5. He was making a left turn onto Alberta Street when he was hit by a Harley Davidson, operated by 31-year-old Tyler Applegate of Toms River, who was been traveling east on 571.
As a result, Applegate was ejected from the motorcycle and had to be transported via ambulance to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune. Police confirmed that he is in stable condition. Mangan and his one juvenile passenger were uninjured.
Assisting at the scene were the Ridgeway Fire Department, Manchester Township EMS and Robert Wood Johnson Paramedics. The roadway was closed in both directions for several hours while the investigation was being conducted.
The crash is currently being investigated by Ptl. Anderson of the Manchester Township Police Department’s Traffic Safety Section.
