BRICK – A new township police officer was sworn in during the most recent Township Council meeting, only the fifth woman officer out of 142 in the department.

Jessica Campana (badge #350), a life-long resident of Brick, graduated from St. John Vianney High School in 2019, and earned a four-year degree in sociology from Gettysburg College.

Officer Campana started her law enforcement career with the Point Pleasant Beach Police Department as a parking enforcement officer and then as a Class 1 Special Law Enforcement Officer.

In December 2023, Officer Campana was hired by the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department and graduated from the Ocean County Police Academy in 2024.

“We strive for excellence, innovation and collaboration,” said Police Chief David Forrester as he introduced the new officer.

“Our officers foster community engagement. They support, mentor and learn from each other to provide the professional services our community deserves,” he said.

“Remember the oath you will take tonight – live by the law enforcement oath of honor. Never betray your integrity, character or public trust,” he said to the new officer.

Councilwoman Marianna Pontoriero said she is happy to see that there is a young female stepping into the role as the newest police officer.

“It encourages me because I know that it is a very good opportunity for other young girls to see someone functioning as an officer, and maybe get inspired to go into law enforcement,” she said.
