MANCHESTER – No one was injured when a home in Whiting went up in flames Friday night, sending multiple firefighters and crews to the scene.

Manchester Township Police Captain Albert Vega confirmed the department got the report of a structure fire a little after 9:20 p.m on Friday, November 29.

Upon arriving at the house at 137A Hudson Parkway, smoke and flames were observed coming from the rear exterior of the residence.

The house and others nearby had been self-evacuated or were unoccupied.

Due to joint efforts of the Manchester Township Communications Division and the Ocean County Sherriff’s Office Communications Division, numerous fire companies were dispatched to the scene and ultimately extinguished the fire.

The house sustained extensive fire and water damage and the building inspector deemed the home uninhabitable.

The Ocean County Fire Marshal’s Office determined the cause of the fire to be accidental due to the failure of energized electrical components in the master bedroom.
