LAKEWOOD – A Township man has been arrested and charged for possessing several different drugs as well as a stolen handgun, officials said.
Police said a Brick home was being used by 30-year-old Raheem Montgomery of Lakewood to store and distribute cocaine and heroin/fentanyl in the area.
On August 3, police saw Montgomery leave the home and travel to Point Pleasant where he stopped at a local gas station. There, detectives approached and detained him without incident.
Authorities said they searched the home and seized about 10 grams of cocaine, 350 wax folds of heroin/fentanyl, one pound of marijuana, drug paraphernalia indicative of narcotics distribution, a stolen handgun with a high-capacity magazine, hollow point ammunition, and about $7,300.
Subsequently, Montgomery was charged with Possession of Less than One-Half Ounce of Cocaine with Intent to Distribute; Possession of Heroin/Fentanyl with Intent to Distribute; Possession of One Ounce or More but Less than Five Pounds of Marijuana with Intent to Distribute; Possession of Cocaine; Possession of Heroin/Fentanyl; Possession of Drug Paraphernalia; being a Certain Person Not to Possess a Firearm; Possession of a Weapon During a Controlled Dangerous Substance Offense; Possession of a Stolen Firearm; Possession of a Prohibited Weapon or Device – specifically a High Capacity Magazine; Possession of a Prohibited Weapon or Device – specifically Hollow Point Ammunition; and Financial Facilitation.
Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer commended the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Narcotics Strike Force and Asset Forfeiture Unit; Brick Police Department’s Patrol Division, Special Enforcement Response Team, Street Crimes Unit, and K-9 Unit; and Point Pleasant Borough Detective Bureau for their combined and collective assistance in connection with this investigation leading to Montgomery’s apprehension.
The charges referenced are merely accusations and the public are reminded that all defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
