BRICK – A 46-year-old man was arrested for sending nude images of himself to what he thought was a 14-year-old girl, police said.

Christian Kohl of Brick was charged with Possession of Child Pornography, Attempted Endangering the Welfare of a Child, and Attempt to Provide Obscene Material to a Minor.

The New Jersey State Police Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force had received cyber-tips from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children that an individual was sending/receiving images of child pornography from the internet.

The Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office High Tech Crime Unit identified an IP address associated with a Brick Township residence as the location from which the individual was accessing images of child pornography from the internet.

Between May and August of 2024, a detective posed as a 14-year-old girl and had an undercover chat with Kohl on the Kik messenger service. During these conversations, Kohl allegedly sent numerous inappropriate nude photos and videos of himself to the detective and the officer repeatedly said “she” was 14.

On August 15, a search warrant was executed on Kohl’s home, and several items of child pornography was found on his phone, police said.

Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer commended the High Tech Crime Unit, U.S. Department of Homeland Security Investigations, Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office, Brick Police, and New Jersey State Police ICAC Task Force, for their collaborative assistance in connection with this investigation leading to Kohl’s arrest.

Charges are merely accusations until proven in a court of law.
