BARTON, NY – New York State Police recently released the names of three people killed in a head-on crash that took place in the afternoon of December 20.
Sabrina M. Surita, age 38 of Manahawkin was in one of the vehicles; she died after being brought to a hospital in the area.
The crash took place on Route 34. Police said that it is still under investigation, but it is believed that a Toyota Highlander was traveling north on Route 34 when it crossed into oncoming traffic and struck a Chevy Silverado head-on.
Four people were inside the Highlander. Janesa Lorenzo, 42, from the Bronx, suffered serious injuries and was listed in critical condition, police said. The front seat passenger, Delroy A. Christie, 56, from the Bronx, suffered non-life-threatening injuries. In the rear seat was Carlos M. Lorenzo, 41, from the Bronx, who was pronounced dead at the scene. Surita was also a rear passenger.

The driver of the Silverado was Gary Sinsabaugh, 68, of Athens, P.A., who was pronounced dead at the scene.
Route 34 was closed between Old Route 34 and Oxbow Road for several hours while members of the New York State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit conducted their investigation.
