  BARNEGAT – A garbage truck driver and a toll booth attendant were seriously injured when the truck struck a toll plaza, police said.

  At about 6:15 a.m. on April 12, a garbage truck was heading south on the Garden State Parkway. Police said the truck collided with the Barnegat toll plaza near mile marker 68.6.

  The driver, Kenneth Jamison, 44, of Toms River, and the toll booth attendant, Megan Russo, 43, of Little Egg Harbor, both sustained serious injuries and were taken to a hospital.

  There was a Chevrolet pick-up truck stopped at the toll booth at the time of the crash. Debris from the crash hit the Chevrolet and the booth. No one inside the Chevrolet was injured, police said.

  The crash remains under investigation.
