MANCHESTER – Authorities have released the identity of the man killed by police after a call came about an individual in distress.
According to the State Attorney General’s Office, police were called on December 5 at around 8:30 p.m. Shannon Rose, 39, of Manchester was located by police on Elizabeth Avenue. About 40 minutes later, Officers Nicholas Greenwood and Michael Anderson shot him. A firearm was recovered near Rose.
According to his obituary, he was a man of many skills and talents, and loved his time spent with his family and friends, adored his dogs, Rosa and Rocco and his many chickens. He was well known for his ability to fix, build or restore things.
He is survived by his wife Melissa and her son Gabe, his mother, Cynthia Rose, father, Robert and his wife Lois, sister and brother, Kodi and Nick Cerracchio, god child and niece, Destiny and niece, Natalia, many aunts, uncles and cousins and also his Motorcross brothers.
A 2019 law requires the Attorney General’s Office to conduct investigations of a person’s death that occurs during an encounter with a law enforcement officer acting in the officer’s official capacity or while the decedent is in custody. It requires that all such investigations be presented to a grand jury to determine if the evidence supports the return of an indictment against the officer or officers involved.
The investigation is ongoing and no further information is being released at this time.

Jersey Shore Online went to the scene on the morning of December 6 and found a KIA Optima with major damage. The homeowner, who wished to remain anonymous, said they heard the suspect’s vehicle slam into the car and speed off while the police were in pursuit.
