POINT PLEASANT – NJ State Police Troopers rescued 11 passengers from a sinking boat in Point Pleasant last week, state police said.
On August 14 around 4:24 p.m., Sergeant First Class Christopher Kochman, along with Troopers Michael Sugzda, Kristofer Buonomo, Francis Morris, and Luke Drazdik of Point Pleasant Station noticed a boat in distress in the Point Pleasant Canal.
According to state troopers, the 21-foot Sea Ray had taken on several large waves over its bow. Troopers quickly transported seven children and four adults from the water onto a State Police vessel before bringing them to safety. Police said that no injuries were reported as a result of the incident.
State Police would like to remind everyone to wear their personal flotation devices while on the water.
