MANCHESTER – A 65-year-old man is hospitalized after his truck overturned while turning on Route 70, police said.
Around 11:48 a.m. on March 12, officers responded to the area of Route 70 and Green Acres Road regarding a crash involving an overturned dump truck.
According to police, the driver of a 2004 Mack dump truck was traveling west on Route 70 at a high rate of speed. The driver than hit the brakes while attempting to turn left into the entrance of the Ocean County Landfill. Due to the excessive speed, the driver lost control and the truck overturned, police said.
The driver, 65-year-old David Santana of Point Pleasant, sustained several non-life-threatening injuries and was brought to Ocean Medical Center via ambulance for treatment and evaluation.

The roadway was partially closed during the investigation and cleanup, police said.
Assisting at the scene were emergency medical technicians and firefighters from the Manchester Township Division of Emergency Services, Manchester Volunteer Fire Department, Ridgeway Volunteer Fire Department, Priced Rite Towing, Accurate Towing, and the New Jersey State Department of Transportation
The crash is being investigated by Ptl. Brendan Brush of the department’s Traffic Safety Unit.
