BRICK – Following tips from the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency, Brick police arrested two people who were believed to be getting prescriptions fraudulently and then selling the drugs.
Alexis Inoa, 22, of NYC, and Carlos Herrera, 21, of NYC were charged with three counts of possession with intent to distribute, four counts of obtaining prescriptions by fraud, possession of a controlled dangerous substance, and conspiracy, police said.
According to the DEA, there is a small group of people who target pharmacies. The Brick Police Street Crimes Unit learned that the Briar Mill Pharmacy was going to be the next target. They reached out to the owner, and worked with the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office to conduct surveillance on January 12.
They arrested the two suspects after they arrived to pick up the prescriptions. Their vehicle and an undisclosed amount of money was seized pending a warrant, police said.
Charges are merely accusations until proven in a court of law.
