BERKELEY – A woman who died in a fire yesterday has been identified publicly, police said.
Janet Conroy, 77, the owner of the house at 1 Miles Pond Road, was found dead by firefighters in her dining room. Investigators looking into the cause of the fire said that an electrical issue in the dishwasher couldn’t be ruled out.
Officials did not immediately know how to find her next of kin. A victim’s name isn’t released to the public until the family is notified.
“Thank you to everyone that reached out to our Office and assisted us with locating Ms. Conroy’s family. I’d also like to extend my gratitude to all of the agencies that responded to and investigated the cause of this tragic fire,” Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer said.
