HOWELL – One is person dead, and two are injured as the result of a head-on crash that occurred Tuesday morning in Howell Township.
The fatal crash took place around 10:30 a.m. in the area of Route 33 by West Renaissance Boulevard. According to police, a 54-year-old woman from Ontario, Canada was traveling westbound on Route 33 in a 2023 Mazda CX-5. When she was negotiating a curve in the road, she crossed the center line for an unknown reason and collided with a concrete mixer truck that was traveling East on Route 33.
Authorities said the head-on type collision caused significant disabling damage to both vehicles. The woman was also trapped in her car and suffered fatal injuries. She was pronounced deceased at the scene, police said.
The driver and the passenger of the concrete mixer truck sustained minor injuries and were brought to a local hospital for treatment.
Assisting at the scene were Howell Police EMS, Howell First Aid, Atlantic Health Paramedics, Adelphia Fire Co., Squankum Fire Co., NWS Earle Fire Dept., Howell Fire Bureau, New Jersey Department of Transportation, and Certified Auto Mall.
