BRICK – A 97-year-old man was killed Monday evening in a two-vehicle crash on Drum Point Road, police said.
Brick Township police responded to the intersection of Drum Point Road and Johnson Road at about 7:15 p.m. September 28 after receiving a report of a crash with injuries.
A preliminary investigation by the department’s Traffic Safety Unit determined that a 2024 Hyundai Elantra was traveling east on Drum Point Road when it crossed the painted center median and struck a 2026 Cadillac Escalade traveling west, police said.
The Hyundai driver, identified as Frank Pugliese, 97, suffered fatal injuries in the crash.
The Cadillac driver, Taylor Reinig, 36, suffered minor injuries and was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
Drum Point Road was shut down in both directions for about five hours while officers investigated and processed the scene.
The crash remains under investigation. Anyone who witnessed the collision or has information that could assist police is asked to contact Patrolman Vincent Rustico at 732-262-1093.
Police said the findings remain preliminary and could change as the investigation continues.
