POINT PLEASANT — Two California residents admitted to burglary charges stemming from a home invasion in Point Pleasant Borough where a gunshot was fired, Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer said.

Jaheim Wilson, 24, and Oleyah Brown, 22, both of Stockton, California, pleaded guilty June 15 before Superior Court Judge Guy P. Ryan to burglary in connection with the Aug. 7, 2025, incident.

Prosecutors will seek seven-year New Jersey State Prison sentences for each defendant when they are sentenced Aug. 28. Those sentences would be subject to the No Early Release Act.

Wilson also pleaded guilty to unlawful possession of a weapon. Prosecutors will seek a five-year prison term with 42 months of parole ineligibility on that charge, to run at the same time as his burglary sentence.

Authorities said Point Pleasant Borough police were called to a Barton Avenue home at about 1:38 p.m. Aug. 7 for a report of a home invasion and a gunshot.

Officers found that the rear door had been forced open and the home had been burglarized. An investigation by the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crime Unit and Point Pleasant Borough police determined that a man carrying a handgun and a woman kicked in the rear door while the resident was inside, prosecutors said.

The pair stole personal property from the resident before the man fired one shot into the air and both fled, authorities said.

Investigators later identified Wilson and Brown as the suspects. Detectives from the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office found them later that day in Toms River, where they were arrested without incident.

Wilson and Brown have been held in the Ocean County Jail since their arrests.
