STAFFORD — A residential fire caused significant damage to a home in Stafford Township on Wednesday night, though no injuries were reported, authorities said.

Police said officers were dispatched around 8:10 p.m. on April 29 after a neighbor reported flames coming from the rear of a residence on Glenn Drive. Responding officers worked quickly to evacuate the affected home and nearby properties. Officials determined the residence where the fire originated was unoccupied at the time.

Fire crews from multiple departments, including Stafford Township, Waretown, Barnegat Township and Eagleswood, responded to the scene along with emergency medical services from Stafford and Barnegat. The blaze was brought under control, but the home sustained heavy damage. Nearby residences experienced minor exterior damage, officials said.

No injuries to residents or pets were reported.

Fire officials from Stafford Township Fire Prevention and the Ocean County Fire Marshal’s Office are assisting in determining the cause, which remains under investigation.

Authorities credited the swift and coordinated response of local and neighboring volunteer agencies with preventing the fire from spreading further.
