JACKSON — Federal immigration authorities have arrested a Mexican national previously convicted of a child sex offense who was found living in Ocean County after reentering the United States illegally.
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement confirms Ricardo Nava-Daniel was taken into custody April 29 during a targeted enforcement operation. Officials said he had been removed from the country in 2019 following a deportation order but later returned without authorization. Officials posted his photograph on their Facebook page.
According to authorities, Nava-Daniel was convicted in Monmouth County in 2015 of endangering the welfare of a child involving sexual conduct and was sentenced to 287 days in jail. In 2018, he pleaded guilty to driving under the influence and operating a vehicle without a license.
ICE officials said Nava-Daniel applied for lawful permanent resident status after his child endangerment conviction, but an immigration judge ultimately ordered him deported. He was removed April 30, 2019, before unlawfully reentering at an unknown time.
Investigators located him in Jackson after receiving a tip last November. ICE said he will remain in custody pending removal proceedings and is expected to be deported again.
In April, ICE was working in Jackson and was able to arrest Rubiel Gabriel Nolasco, a criminal illegal alien from Mexico. Nolasco was arrested twice by Border Patrol in 2021 and was returned to Mexico on both occasions.
