FREEHOLD — A 19-year-old Keansburg man has been charged in connection with a shooting at the Freehold Borough Library last week, Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond S. Santiago announced Tuesday.

Kanye P. Faucette is facing charges including first-degree attempted murder, as well as two second-degree offenses related to unlawful possession of a handgun and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.

Police responded at approximately 4:21 p.m. on, April 30, to reports of gunfire near the Freehold Borough Public Library on East Main Street. Officers arriving at the scene found a male victim with a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to a nearby hospital and is now listed in stable condition.

An investigation led by the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Bureau and the Freehold Borough Police Department identified Faucette as the alleged shooter.

Authorities also charged Heaven D. Holmes, 20, of Keyport, with second-degree unlawful possession of a handgun and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose in connection with the incident.

Faucette was apprehended by the U.S. Marshals Service New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force. Both Faucette and Holmes are being held at the Monmouth County Correctional Institution pending court proceedings.
