MANCHESTER – The sound of cheering crowds, cracking bats and summer baseball will return to Manchester as Manchester Little League hosts the 18th annual Mason Invitational Tournament from July 11 to July 25.
The tournament, a local Little League tradition, brings together youth baseball teams from across Monmouth and Ocean counties for two weeks of competition, friendship and community spirit.
The event is held in honor of Gary Mason, a former Manchester Little League District 18 member and vice president who believed young players should have every opportunity to enjoy the game and continue building memories with their teammates.
Organizers said the tournament gives players of all ages a chance to improve their skills, face teams from neighboring leagues and experience baseball in a fun, competitive setting beyond the regular season.

The tournament also arrives as the country marks its 250th anniversary, offering a reminder of baseball’s long-standing place in American life. From T-ball fields to Major League stadiums, the sport has remained a gathering point for families, players and fans across generations.
Manchester Little League said the Mason Invitational Tournament is about more than the final score.
“It is not about winning, but more importantly giving as many players the experience of continuing to play ball with their league friends in a fun-filled baseball tournament,” the league said.
Families, friends and residents are invited to attend games throughout the tournament and enjoy ballpark favorites from Sandy’s Snack Shack.
Eighteen years after it began, the Mason Invitational Tournament continues to honor Mason’s legacy by giving young athletes a place to compete, build friendships and celebrate the game of baseball.
