TOMS RIVER – Ocean County College contributes $355.8 million each year to the county economy and supports 4,849 jobs, according to a new economic impact study.
The report, conducted by Lightcast for fiscal year 2023-24, found that one out of every 69 jobs in Ocean County is tied to the college and its students.
County officials said OCC’s influence extends beyond education, citing its role in workforce development, cultural programs, lifelong learning and community engagement.
OCC alumni account for $291 million in annual economic activity through higher earnings and workforce participation in fields such as health care, education, business, public service and technology.
During the fiscal year, OCC served more than 12,500 credit students and 755 non-credit students while employing 901 faculty and staff members.
The study also found that every dollar invested in the college returns $7.50 in economic and social benefits, while taxpayers receive $1.90 through added tax revenue and public-sector savings.
Deputy Director Jennifier Bacchione of the Ocean County Board of Commissioners said the college remains a key community asset, supporting the economy, arts and residents of all ages.
Dr. Pamela Monaco, president of OCC, said the college continues to serve as a center for education, culture, workforce training and community involvement.
