LAKEWOOD — Six people were arrested on charges of driving while intoxicated and related offenses over the weekend, according to township police.
Those charged were:
Lazaro Vasquez-Mendez, 30, of Lakewood.
Martin Alvares-Hernandez, 37, of Jackson.
Manuel Contreras-Aguilar, 53, of Lakewood.
Fabian Castro-Lorenzo, 32, of Lakewood.
Raul Gonzalez, 42, of Brick.
Saul Gonzalez-Velasquez, 38, of Jackson.
The department did not provide the locations or circumstances of the arrests or identify the additional offenses.
Chief Gregory Meyer credited patrol officers with identifying suspected impaired drivers, saying their enforcement efforts help prevent crashes and protect the public.
Police said impaired-driving enforcement will continue and urged motorists to stay sober behind the wheel.
The charges are accusations, and the defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
