TOMS RIVER — Toms River officials will hold a public hearing June 10 on the township’s 2026 budget and tax resolution.
The hearing is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. in the L. Manuel Hirshblond Meeting Room at the Toms River Municipal Building, 33 Washington St.
According to a township notice, the council approved the budget and tax resolution April 8. Residents, taxpayers and other interested parties will be able to comment or raise objections during the hearing.
Toms River Township’s proposed 2026 municipal budget totals $142.2 million, up from $139.0 million in 2025 — an increase of about $3.2 million, or roughly 2.3%.
The proposed budget is bigger than last year’s, but the municipal tax levy is essentially flat. The township appears to be relying more heavily on surplus to offset lower revenue in other areas, while salary costs are rising. Debt payments and some operating expenses are down, helping soften the overall increase.
Copies of the proposed budget are available at the clerk’s office in the municipal building during regular business hours, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The budget is also available on the township website. Click here to access the PDF.
