  TOMS RIVER – Police charged a man with dealing crack cocaine and heroin throughout Ocean County.   Nicholas Ryland, 32, of Cream Ridge, was arrested at the end of a three-month investigation.   Detectives from multiple towns watched homes that Ryland was suspected of using.   TOMS RIVER – Police charged a man with dealing crack cocaine and heroin throughout Ocean County.

  Nicholas Ryland, 32, of Cream Ridge, was arrested at the end of a three-month investigation.

  Detectives from multiple towns watched homes that Ryland was suspected of using. They watched him leave a Berkeley house and go to one in Toms River. He was pulled over as he came near the house and arrested without incident.

  The Toms River house and his car were searched, and police said they recovered $16,000 in cash, 46 grams of crack cocaine, several bricks of heroin/fentanyl, and “a large quantity” of suboxone tablets.

  In the Berkeley home, officers said they found crack cocaine, assorted drug paraphernalia, a large capacity ammunition magazine, and a Glock semi-automatic handgun that had been reported stolen out of Richmond, Virginia.

  A woman also left the Berkeley home went in a separate car. Quadazia Scott, 33, of Berkeley was followed to Lakewood and pulled over.

  Police said she was detained but released while detectives applied for a search warrant for her vehicle. They recovered crack cocaine. A warrant was out for her arrest and she turned herself in to the Toms River police.

  Ryland was charged with Possession of More than One Half-Ounce but Less than Five Ounces of Cocaine with Intent to Distribute, Possession of Less than One Half-Ounce of Heroin with Intent to Distribute, Possession of More than One Half-Ounce but Less than Five Ounces of Cocaine with Intent to Distribute Within 500 feet of Public Housing, Possession of Less than One Half-Ounce of Heroin with Intent to Distribute Within 500 feet of Public Housing, Conspiracy to Possess More than One Half-Ounce but Less than Five Ounces of Cocaine with Intent to Distribute, Conspiracy to Possess Less than One Half-Ounce of Heroin with Intent to Distribute, Possession of Heroin, Possession of Cocaine, Possession of Suboxone, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, being a Certain Person Not to Possess a Firearm, Possession of a High Capacity Ammunition Magazine, Possession of a Firearm During a Controlled Dangerous Substance Offense, Receiving Stolen Property (the handgun), and Financial Facilitation. 

  Scott was charged with Possession of Cocaine, Conspiracy to Possess More than One Half-Ounce but Less than Five Ounces of Cocaine with Intent to Distribute, and Conspiracy to Possess Less than One Half-Ounce of Heroin with Intent to Distribute. 

  Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer commended the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Narcotics Strike Force, Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Asset Forfeiture Unit, Toms River Police Department Special Enforcement Unit, Toms River Police Emergency Services Unit, Toms River Police Patrol Division, Berkeley Police Detective Bureau, Berkeley Police Patrol Division, Lakewood Police Street Crimes Unit, Lakewood Police Patrol Division, Ocean County Regional SWAT Team, and Ocean County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Unit, for their combined and collective assistance in connection with this investigation.

  Charges are merely accusations until proven in a court of law.
