FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP — A Howell man fatally struck by a commercial truck outside his workplace is being remembered for his devotion to his family, quick wit and lifelong love of music.
Richard Scott Loroesh, 62, was walking through the parking lot of Frito-Lay on Commerce Drive around 6:15 p.m. Oct. 23 when the truck struck him, Franklin Township Public Safety Director Lloyd N. Fredericks said.
Loroesh died from his injuries, authorities said.
According to his obituary, Loroesh spent 22 years working for Frito-Lay. Born in Brooklyn and raised on Staten Island, he later lived in Long Branch before moving to Howell in 1998. He was a graduate of SUNY Plattsburgh.
His family described him as knowledgeable and reserved, with a sharp sense of humor and a knack for delivering a well-timed joke.
Music was a constant throughout his life. His interests spanned rock, blues and jazz, and he assembled a large, meticulously cataloged collection of records and CDs. Beyond collecting, he enjoyed discovering what others liked to hear and connecting with them through their favorite songs, his obituary said.
He also rooted for the New York Mets and enjoyed Sunday football.
His family remembered him as a husband and father who worked hard to provide opportunities for his children while making their needs a priority.
Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Elaine; his son, Zack, and daughter-in-law, Vanna; his daughter, Samantha; his mother, Linda; and three siblings, Jill Loroesh, John Loroesh and Donna Crincoli.
Fredericks offered condolences to those affected and said police are investigating the circumstances of the crash.
