JOINT BASE MCGUIRE-DIX-LAKEHURST — Residents near the joint base can expect moderate noise from military training during most of November, according to its monthly noise calendar.
Moderate noise is forecast for Nov. 2-24 and Nov. 30. Training in that category includes helicopter aerial gunnery and may involve .50-caliber weapons, rockets and rotary cannons.
Lower noise levels are expected Nov. 1 and Nov. 25-29, with training involving small arms and light crew weapons, including rifles.
No days are designated for the calendar’s highest noise category, which includes mortar and howitzer fire and explosive cratering charges.
The calendar reflects the highest noise level anticipated each day. Sounds may be intermittent, and cloud cover can affect how far they travel. Training needs and weather conditions may prompt schedule changes without advance notice.
Residents with questions or concerns can call 609-754-2575.
